2.) Don’t Breath

still_dont_breathFede Alvarez second film and he reunites with leading lady Jane Levy from the Evil Dead reboot in 2013.  The rough cut of Don’t Breathe debuted at SXSW last March by the name of “Untitled Fede Alvarez Project.” It received a great response from audiences and critics alike. The thrills comes fast and furious and increase in both intensity and campiness. Check out our review here

Synopsis: Rocky (Jane Levy), Alex and Money are three Detroit thieves who get their kicks by breaking into the houses of wealthy people. Money gets word about a blind veteran who won a major cash settlement following the death of his only child. Figuring he’s an easy target, the trio invades the man’s secluded home in an abandoned neighborhood. Finding themselves trapped inside, the young intruders must fight for their lives after making a shocking discovery about their supposedly helpless victim.

1.) Blair Witch

still_blair_witchAfter a huge surprise at SDCC 2016 The Blair Witch lore is back. Originally titled The Woods the creators pulled the wool over fans eyes at a screening in San Diego before the grand surprise was revealed that The Woods was actually a new Blair Witch! A clever piece of marketing that made the original so unique – when moviegoers thought the found footage film was a real documentary by college students.

Synopsis: College students enter the Black Hills Forest in Maryland to see if the disappearance of James’ sister is connected to the Blair Witch. As night falls, the students realize the legend is all too real after they are visited by a menacing presence.

Over the next few months we have some really great horror films coming out – and these are just the major releases. I am certain a few indie films will slip through the cracks on VOD and Netflix. But one thing is for certain, there are plenty of scares to look forward to from now until the end of 2017.
