The 15 Best Animated Movies of All Time

11. Fantasia (1940)

still_animated_film_fantasiaEight of the most amazing animated vignettes ever committed to film comprise this timeless, surreal classic. It is by far Disney’s greatest achievement in traditional animation and also the their most unconventional. This marriage of animated phantasmagoria and stately Classical music could have turned out dull, or it could have turned out as something only interesting to art connoisseurs, but everything about it is memorable.

From Mickey Mouse’s harmless antics in “The Sorcerer’s Apprentice” that quickly spin out of control, to the nightmarish “Night On Bald Mountain,” everything in Fantasia works and will stay with the viewer for long afterward.

10. The Incredibles (2004)

still_animated_film_incrediblesThe idea of superheroes being controversial within their own universe due to the collateral damage caused by their heroics is nothing new. Indeed, it is an idea that is as constant a presence in their story as the arch villains that they routinely face. But in 2004 Pixar’s The Incredibles took the idea one step further, showing a super powered family struggling to adjust to middle class life in the wake of super heroics being outlawed.

The film’s first half is filled with many moments both humorous and poignant, but when they discover they have no choice but to put on their costumes again and save the day it becomes one of the best super hero films of its era.

It’s easily as good as anything Marvel or DC have committed to the screen and is downright funny besides.
